Montana 700i sent activity (driving 1100km) to Garmin Connect and then Strava got synced

I just bought a Montana 700i to replace my GPSMAP64st and Mini. Works well, so far.

But I noticed something strange. I took a ride with my car trying the navigation on the Montana. And the trip got synced with Garmin Connect (which I did not expect) and as I have "auto upload to Strava" the trip was synced to Strava too.

How can I disable this?

I am sure that what got sync'd was the activity (what was previously called the "logged" points). The activity is not sent by satellite. You must sync to transfer it off the device.

If you don't want the detailed track at all, you can disable activity recording. I don't think the Montana has a "setting" for this. You can optionally link activity recording with tracking (sending points). It's a real mess. You probably need to manually disable activity logging after you start tracking. Once you stop activity logging, you can discard it (prior to sync). That's probably the most reliable thing.
