MTP Mode: cannot get into this mode

I'll have to try that. I was using the brand new cable provided by Garmin.

I am also using  a USB hub. 

That cable should be OK.

Might want to go direct.

This is typically a bad plan. Find a port directly on the PC.

The Garmin cable provided with the unit should be a data cable, which will work. There ARE charge-only cables which will not work. Typically, you get those with things like power banks.

I have now tried both options:
- with factory cable and with another cable : both did not bring the 700i into MTP mode

- Also plugged the cable directly into the Mac and it also did not go into MTP

Which firmware are you guys using?

Mine is

- 13.20 (according to GarminExpress)

- 10.50 (according to Garmin Connect)

Yet another Mac issue.

The problem is your MAC, not the cable or Montana 7x0.

Are you telling me that 700i cannot work with Macs?

I just tried it on my Windows machine and the same thing happened. It just turns ON after I plugged in USB.
