Birdseye direct will not display over my Topo Pro 1:50K UK but will in Basecamp and City Navigator (also on SD) on my Montana 700. Why after a year is there still no solution ?

Hi,
You may have figured this out already. To see the Birdseye imagery, you need to turn off the 50k map imagery. Similar for the 25k. I'm going from memory here but it involves choosing what layers are shown.
The Ordnance Survey maps are images, just like Birdseye, but they take precedence when both are selected for display. In other words, the OS images are displayed over the BE images.
I created a custom shortcut on the layers menu for the OS layers so it's easier to turn them on and off. I then just leave the Burdseye layer(s) on all the time.
If you want some more detail on the above, I can take a look at exactly what it was I did.
Chris.
If the Ordinance Survey maps are opaque images (as opposed to transparent vector graphics), there is no help for this. When you select two (or more) opaque layers, only ONE of them can be displayed. That will be the one with higher priority - that is "higher in the layer stack".
When you combine an opaque image with a transparent vector layer, you can see both because the transparent vector layer is typically "above" the opaque layer. So the opaque layer "shows through" the transparent vector layer.
I must say it's a bit of a shame the Ordnance Survey maps are not vectors as I could do with zooming in a bit more without everything going pixelated.
I had been looking at a realed posting concerning Birdseye Direct not displaying over Topo Pro 1:25k. Andrew from Garmin had replied that it was a known issue and would hopefully be rectified soon although he did not have a time scale. I use a Talkie Toaster 1:50k map and Birdseye Direct works just fine.. I bought my map on SD from Ordnance Survey and there was no indication that there was an issue with Birdseye Direct. Anyway thanks for your input, I wondered if other people were aware of the problem.
Dave.
There have been a number of posts regarding map incompatibility with the 7x0i. In some cases, there was a rational explanation. In other cases, it's a bug. If you are in doubt, open a support ticket. The more people who report an issue, the more likely it is to be corrected sooner rather than later.
