TopoActive Maps Routing on 700i

I've planned a route in Basecamp which follows some local trails and sent that to my 700i.

I've set up a profile for Trail Riding -

Direct Routing off

Activity; ATV/Offroad driving

Lock on road; yes

Course navigation method; roads and trails

But when I try to load the route on the 700i it just plots a direct route, rather than following the roads and trails. The only way I can get it to follow the actual route is to set the activity type to hiking, mountain biking or cycling, which seems wrong to me - surely ATV/offroad driving should follow roads and trails too rather than direct routing?

TA maps are not build for atv/automobile/motorcycle-routing: you always get a direct routing instead.

Some free osm maps supports this or you need to buy a CN NT Garmin map for your area (but they are without trails/paths)

The best way is to plan the route in basecamp save as a trail not a route and then follow it on the montana it wont give you turn by turn instructions but you can follow the trail as you go. when you save as a route garmin will always recalculate the route, and as the other post says will only recalculate on roads or trails that happen to be on the map.

UNLESS you use Direct routing in BaseCamp, then send it to your device, and the device will use whatever map you have loaded!
