Do I have something running need to turn off? Or is this something I am going to have to live with?

Define 'run battery down fast' in some sort of minutes/hours?
it turned off less that 24 hours With the unit turned OFF.
Moderated: Please be respectful. It was a legitimate question.
What do you expected? It's absolutly normal, that it's less than 24 hours holding. Garmin specifies up to 18 hours, but you will never reach that, if you turn backlight always on.
WITH it turned off and running down that fast ,SORRY less than 24 HOURS that don't seem normal
Since Garmin says a maximum of 18 hours, you won't be able to reach ever 24 hours, unless you use the special expedition mode.
I keep Expedition Mode in Never. I don't know about special expedition
With it turned off? As in press and hold the button until it shuts down? And 24 hours later battery is dead. No that is not normal. The battery should last months when off. Curious, charge it up, shut it off and remove the battery. Put it back in a day later and see. If dead, definitely a faulty battery. If not, possibly some parasitic draw from the unit for some reason or it is not actually turning off.
I have been using it every other day. I charge it up one day take the battery out the next morning when I use it I put the battery back in and it is still fully charged. If I leave the battery in the unit with it turned off it will run down. I am a dummy about these things but if I had to guess I would think something is running and draining it, but I don't know what I have turned a lot of the stuff off.
How long does it last when on? I know it varies a lot by how much backlight use, map orientation, etc but I think I get maybe 8-10 hours or so without worrying about it going dead. If it’s going dead over night, it sure sounds like it is not turned off. I’d fiddle with mine but I’m in the process of a painfully long update to a marine chart.
Mine lasts about 4-5hrs after a full charge in 15 degree C.
less then 1 hr below 0 degree C.
absolutely horrible battery life.
I too have been wondering if there’s something I could be turning off to try and extend battery life.
