Trip Data

Hi all,

I'm trying to get my head around activity and trip data. Can somebody help me with the following:

  • On the trip computer, does data ever get reset automatically or do I need to do it manually each time?
  • At present, trip recording is set to 'during activity' - What does this mean?
  • How far back in time is trip data used to calculate averages like moving average?
  • What is the association between activity and trip?

Thank you,

Chris.

  • You can control the reset. Setup > Recording > Advanced Setup > Recorded Data Reset. Your choices are Prompted (meaning that you get to choose Trip, Activity, both, or neither) each time you save a recording or Activity and Trip (meaning that both are reset automatically when you save).

Recording During Activity means just what it says. The counters only increment when you have an activity (track recording) in progress.

Averages do not mean what we all think they mean. In particular, average moving speed times time moving does not equal the total distance. The averages are calculated based on the distances/speed between track points. They don't go back in time any farther than the start of the recorded track.

In theory, a trip covers one or more activities. However, it depends on how you reset them. If you reset automatically, both will be reset every time - so trip and activity will be the same thing. If you choose to be prompted, you would typically reset the activity each time, but reset the trip only when you reach the end of your "trip".
