Import photos possible?

Photos can only be transfered via direct USB cable connection while the device is in Mass Storage Mode.

I guess that makes sense. It's easy to handle in sw but I guess garmin wouldn't sell too many 750i if they allowed it.

So, if I take photos with cell phone, is there a particular place to put them, so that they can be used like if taken with the 750i?

I'd like to be able to have photos show on routes where they were taken, if possible.  Guess I could just try it and see. Thanks

One other thing, I wonder if I can transfer from my phone to the garmin using OTG cable.  I know I can transfer that way to other storage devices.

It is possible to transfer photos from phone to Montana 700i, by using an OTG cable.  I just moved a photo from my phone to the 700i, to a folder called NewFiles, and viewed it with Photo app.

But there are a bazillion folders in the Montana.  Is there a special place where photos should be stored?  Can they, then, be used like any other photo taken with a 750i?

Yes, JPEG photos should be placed in the JPEG folder!

There aren't any folders remotely like JPEG.  No images, no photos, nothing that suggests where to put photos. There was a folder called NewFiles so I put them there. Seem to work ok there.  I guess I could just create my own folder called JPG and they would probably work.  

Still getting used to using this device. It's awesome. Did some tests with iReach this week and it worked great.  I drove through a canyon that I know doesn't have cell coverage, to test my iReach tracking.  Worked great and didn't miss an update.  I had it set for maximum of 2 min between points, to check for blind spots.  None found.

Now I have to figure out if I need more maps. :)

If no /Garmin/JPEG/ directory exists, create it and place your JPG photos there. I would not place photos willy-nilly in just any folder on the device. It may work now, but may cause issues later. Put them in the correct folder.

Ok, I'll try but it seems more "williy-nilly" to just create a folder that doens't exist, than putting them in one that does exist.  But I'll try it.  Also, I'd think the 750i put them in a DCIM folder, not JPEG.  Wouldn't the 700i put in a similar place?

DCIM folder is for photos taken with the device camera.
