700i SD Card issue

Just purchased a Montana 700i. Then purchased 24k topo southwest (side note - I purchased the same map a couple of years ago but only allowed on one device - really?).

Updated 700i thru Garmin Express, it recognized the card, but every time I try to install the 24k topo map I just bought, it says:

I have a Windows PC (newer), using Garmin USB cable.

This is the card I bought:

Garmin support agent said "it might be too fast" --- What? What year is this?

Anyone else run into this and possibly solve?

Sometimes the problem with the card is formatting. Card needs to be formatted FAT32.

The card meets the specs for the device, including the Class 10 speed. This is not to say that it will work. The specs are general, for "outdoor devices", not specific to the Montana.

As far as the map charges go, if you purchase the map via download or DVD (if that's still available), the map is locked to the device on which you first install it, but can be updated. If you purchase on SD card, the card can be used in any device. But the map cannot be updated.

Much as I hate to say it, if the troubleshooting steps do not help, you're probably going to have to call support again.

Thanks! Yes, it was already formatted correctly. Took it out and did it again just in case. Same issue. Appreciate the links.

Ok tried to format again, this time using the link twolpert sent (same process, but this time changed "allocation size"). Still didn't work. For clarity, Garmin Express recognizes the card:

But when I hit Continue, it starts for a second or two, then the error comes up.

Garmin express and the Montana 7x0 have been plagued with map install issue's for some time now.....

UPDATE ---

Uninstalled Garmin Express (for a second time)
Powered cycled PC
Installed Garmin Express
Added Montana 700i first (before adding my old GPSMAP 64st)
Signed in and VOILA! Map installed

Wondering if it had to do with the 64st being in there with the same map (separate purchase two years ago) assigned to it...

Garmin express has issues writing to SD cards, maybe the latest version might have this solved (7.7.1.0) otherwise use Javawa device manager to move one of the maps installed on the Montana to the SD card, and then since you have more space on the montana try it again but select the montana instead of the sd card.
