Anyone heard if garmin has any plans to release a carrying option that clips or secures to a backpack shoulder strap? It seems they thought this thing would only be used mounted in vehicles...

I use a Scrote Utility Pouch On my hip belt on my backpack just search google for Scrote Utility Pouch
I use the Maxpedition TC-3, fits perfectly, nice and snug. https://www.maxpedition.com/products/tc-3-pouch. I bought mine on Amazon.
Very Rugged and well made.
In another thread I wondered the same thing. You’d think they would have offered a belt clip since it is considered a handheld. I was thinking you could take apart the bicycle mount and bolt it to a Tek-Lok, Spyderco GClip or something similar. It would be a miracle if the holes lined up perfectly but some of those clips have a lot of holes.
the Maxpedition TC-3 is a perfect fit for the Montana 750i
I emailed them and got the following response:
"Unfortunately we do not currently have a compatible carabiner strap available for the Montana 700. If we made the accessory then it would be available on the website for purchase.
There are currently no plans to release a carabiner strap for this device."
Slightly disappointing... you can get a basic strap here:
or here at Garmin

Hope this hellps

If you carry a lot of stuff with you (books, papers, laptop, etc.) on a daily basis and have the feeling that some of it might be lost if you lose your key, then a backpack is perfect for you. A backpack allows you to keep all your valuables safe from damage while making it easy for you to find your things when you need them. As a female, I was looking for the best backpack to carry my laptop. I liked the models from backpacks.global/.../.
I also bought a Maxpedition TC-3 from Amazon for the 700i with Maxpedition 3-Inch TacTie to attach to a backpack. It fits good but ended up putting the 700i in the side water bottle compartment of my daypack. Will use the TC-3 when I get a larger backpack most likely.
I found a small opening next to the antenna that a loop can be thread through and used to carrier it I loop it around my neck and for me workes well
Be careful with this. Depending on the lanyard material, you may find that sharp edges on the device abrades the lanyard quickly. I haven't tried this with the Montana (hard to imagine an anchor like that around my neck), but I have had problems with other Garmin devices.
The material I am using is a brad and there are no real sharp edges on mine. It is not all that bad hanging around my neck, if it was one could find something else to fasten it to.
