Group tracks in folders

Although it’s not quite the same thing, you may be able to use collections for this purpose.

That’s what I thought. I don’t know much but it seemed to me Garmin was going with the cloud like thing with Explore. So far, it works for me. I have marine waypoints, routes and tracks stored in one collection and synced with the 700i and road stuff in another that syncs with my XT but also with the 700i if I want. I can look at all of it on my iPad or phone. I think that affords me more flexibility. So at least for me, I can see why they might not have additionally done folders on the units themselves. Just a thought.

I don’t use tracks much but was looking into it out of curiosity. While it may not have folders, it does have plenty of tools to find a track. Group tracks in Favorite or Archived folder. Show on map or not. Search by spelling name of track. Sort by proximity, name or date. I don’t think that’s all that bad in lieu of a folder system. I could devise a naming convention, say by state, where each track name is preceded with the two letter state code. Then I could find all the tracks in a given state by sorting. 

You still have to go through and turn each individual track on or off. Having folders that you could select to show all or hide all would be super easy. Collections manager does not do this. I would love to see this in a future update.

FYI - some context here - this exact feature has been requested for more than a decade now, without any movement, so I would not hold your breath or expect to see anything different in the near future....
