Missing shortcut function in the Montana 700 serie

One of the best features of the Montana 600 is the shortcuts function. The most important commands could be stored here on the main desktop and e.g. it can be quickly switched back and forth between two routing methods. E.g. air-routing and touring bike routing. This is a huge advantage for geocaching.
I could not find this function in the montana 700 series.

Will this feature be available again in the Montana 700 series?

When navigating, if I go to the “where to” magnifying glass on the bottom, I have a choice to “Change Route Activity.” Then I can change from automobile to hiking, etc. A couple clicks, not too inconvenient. I suppose it could somehow be made even easier but guessing not too many people change a navigation mode partially through the route.

You're right there aren't many people who need it. But I think a lot of geocachers who ride bikes. You navigate to a geocache and shortly before the destination you switch from cycling to direct routing. Then it goes on to the next geocache so switch back to cycling ans so on. It's very practical with the Montana 600. You can of course also use "Wher To" to change the Route activity. But it's not so easy to do that while you ride an bycicle. It's easyer to do it with one touch.

It’s also possible to prompt for routing method directly. Setup > Routing > Calculation Method > Prompted.

The “where to” during navigation is a great tip. Although I have the type of routing prompted every time I start navigating, this still is a simple way to change during navigation. Thanks!

Hi Haggie4711, you’re absolutely right. I too miss the shortcut feature. I use different maps while traveling on motorcycles. When I want a more detailed map with smaller trails I activate a MTB-map. However for route calculations I need to deactivate this map otherwise I’ll get route calculation error. Very easy with shortcuts to toggle on and off additional maps. Very long way to go without shortcuts. Hope they’ll implement it again!

Yes, I was dispapointed to see this was missing. Was perfect for the continuous route changing method while geocaching.

You do realize you can always select the 'Where To?' icon at any time and change the routing method there as often as you desire? If this icon is in the Favorites bar, this is literally just as easy as using a shortcut!

Absolutely, but it's still not as efficient as changing the maps, zoom levels, and routing method in a single click.

I really hope, that the shortcut function will be readded to Montana 700 series. Did you all wrote about that to Garmin?
