Does Garmin plan on fixing the 700i so it can be synced from a computer again like the Explorer+ instead of needing a smart phone ?

I can update my firmware from Garmin Express but I can't change the contacts or preset messages.

I had the same issue. Can't update InReach contacts or preset messages from Garmin Express. Not a big deal. I would rather Garmin fix the brightness on the 700 series.

There is no option to sync inReach account data using a computer for the Montana 700i/750i devices and all syncing is done through the Garmin Explore App.

I have opened a Support Ticket to document users requesting a computer sync option and I'd be happy to add you to the ticket along with any feedback regarding why you would like this feature.

Please add me to the ticket. Highly desire the ability to sync inReach on my 700i using a computer. Overly complicated and undesirable to require a smartphone, and two mobile apps (Connect & Explore).

Wow...I would not have bought this unit had I known I cannot sync all my previous information. To me this is now a brick and I will go back to using my older equipment.

The fact that you cannot sync directly with the PC does NOT mean that you cannot get your data over to the device "without a smart phone". It is true that you cannot sync. But you can mount the device in mass storage mode. In this mode, the file system on the device is directly accessible from (for example) Windows Explorer. You can copy .gpx files to the appropriate folders. This is, of course, a one-way operation, not bi-directional sync. But it gets the data there.
