I have the 700i, during map updates they stopped & several tries later after disconnecting the 700i
updates went ok but when I checked the memory said it was 70 % full, is your 700 series in that 70% full area
thanks

When you're downloading Birdseye Imagery, are you using Birdseye Direct on the Montana 700i itself or are you using Basecamp on a computer? When using Birdseye Direct on the device, it should give you…
Yes, but you can move the BirdsEye files from the device to the microSD card after if you wish....
your right,t what a noob I am worked perfect
My 700i shows 4.44G available out of 15.42G capacity. There was an issue with Garmin Express constantly claiming the maps need updating, even if just completed. I think it was cured with an update to Express. If you tried 3 or 4 times to update, like I did before the fix, I can see how you might worry about clogging up internal memory
thanks for the reply
That's what I was worried about clogging up or fragmented memory, but I should of checked how
full the memory was before I tried to update, why garmin didn't put 32gb in the 700 series maybe cost 10.00 dollars more
I have backroads maps BRMB for BC Canada when I download Birdseye Imagery I cant save to the micro sd card
only to the garmin memory my old montana 680 I could save to the added memory any Ideas
Are your maps on a microSD? Locked? Can you select them in Configure Maps on the 700i?
See the “Cannot see my map in configure maps”...thread. I’m unable to select the Southwest Topo 24k I purchased and downloaded. Garmin Express put it on the empty, formatted microSD by default. I’ve never tried the Birdseye imagery (also a Montana 680t owner) so I’m not sure what is normal behavior for those.
When you're downloading Birdseye Imagery, are you using Birdseye Direct on the Montana 700i itself or are you using Basecamp on a computer? When using Birdseye Direct on the device, it should give you the option to select Internal Memory or the SD card if you have one inserted.
Are your Backroads Maps on a preloaded SD card or did you download these yourself? I tested downloading Birdseye Direct on my Montana 750i with a preloaded microSD for Garmin Huntview Plus mapping and I was able to select it as a location to store the Birdseye Direct imagery on the device.
This article has steps for Birdseye Direct: Download, View or Delete BirdsEye Direct Satellite Imagery on the GPSMAP 66/86 and Montana 700 Series
Also, how much Birdseye Imagery have you downloaded?
To me this sounds like the internal memory is being used by Birdseye Imagery, but please let me know more details about what you're doing and I'm happy to help.
I would be interested to know what the out of the box usage is. I updated my new 700i and surprised to find it was at 73% full. I didn’t add anything extra. I thought I would be able to add Garmin nautical charts but no way, I’ll need to use a card.
The usable storage space in a Montana 7x0i is only just over 14GB, with multiple pre-installed maps, including TopoActive North America (3.8 GB), Ctiy Navigator North America (3.1 GB), and Public Lands + DEM maps (2.3 GB) all consuming a majority of that space.
when I download Birdseye Imagery I cant save to the micro sd card
Why Not? The option is provided each time BirdsEye Direct imagery is loaded.
See GPSrChive > Montana 7x0 > Main Menu > BirdsEye Direct > Download Map for detailed information.
Thanks. That makes sense.
