Cannot see my map in configure maps on my Montana 750i.

I have a TOPO Great Britain PRO 1:25k installed via micro SD card.

Whilst maps appear on BaseCamp, they do not appear as option in configure maps on unit?

Any advice?

Thanks

  • I called Garmin Uk and spoke to Will, his advise was to buy new map cards! Apparently once used in one device they cannot be used in another? Seems very odd to me.

I will be returning my unit, it seems it’s been launched early and not properly tested.

I would get a second opinion on that....

  • Yes it’s a pre loaded card bundled in with my old Oregon 600, it works fine in the 600 that it came with.

So the information issued by Garmin UK could in fact be incorrect, as if purchasing a new card could have the same issues!

  • As far as I know there's no way to make TOPO Great Britain PRO 1:25k working with 700i or 750i, which is one of (few more) reasons why I bought 700 instead as I didn't fancy spending yet another 350 GBP on newer version of TOPO maps which I already bought. Also from what I heard is that TOPO Great Britain PRO 1:25k won't work with 700i/750i because the map's ID identifier is for some peculiar reason already taken and used in 700i/750i by City Navigator map. Ridiculous isn't it. Apparently there's no fix coming, but since i use 700 for hiking, don't really need inReach and for 700 I can get AA battery adapter, I decided to go for non "i" version.

But that's not all, even though TOPO Great Britain PRO 1:25k work fine with my Montana 700, Birdseye overlay does no display if my TOPO GB is enabled. Only when I remove the TOPO SD card or disable the map in setting the Birdseye map appears.

    Mental.

  • I have a 700i and I have TOPO Great Britain PRO 1:25k and it works it didn’t at first but does now I believe https://www.gpstraining.co.uk have a workaround try emailing them

  • I'm fairly certain we are not supposed to post links to external websites here.... 8^(

  • Yeah I don't think it's fair to mention them without their consent. I'd suggest you should probably remove the link or reference to a particular company. I appreciate the info though. Cheers mate.

  • It sounds like a right dogs dinner, have they actually tested the product before putting it on the market? How have they not found these basic issues during testing? Did they rush the product to market to make the most of the summer season ( bearing in mind we lost the first part of it)  overall it is very poor for “flagship” products of this price point to have these issues. Surely the whole point of a map enabled GPS is to “read maps” What has made it worse is Garmin are denying there is an issue and not offering a solution that doesn’t cost the consumer more. It shows arrogance and disregard to the consumer IMO.

  • Have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Base camp to ensure I’m on the latest OS. Unfortunately I’m still no closer to resolution.

  • It can’t be as I am still unable to use my 150k is card in my unit.
