Hello,
has anybody an idea for a suitable case (belt-bag) for the Montana 700?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hello,
has anybody an idea for a suitable case (belt-bag) for the Montana 700?
Thank you in advance for your help.
I bought the Maxpedition Daily Essentials Pack.

It is a great fit.
Do you guys think this would fit it alright? It's spec'd as 0.2" too short in length, but i think that would just slightly affect how the lid wraps over the top (which is adjustable). I want something…
I have looked at a lot of cases as I wanted something I could attach to the chest strap of my rucksack. I came across two that I thought might work. The first one is this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product…
So, I went ahead and ordered the Maxpedition TC-3 pouch on Amazon. Here are pictures of the pouch with the Garmin Montana 700 inside. As suspected, the antenna sticks out the top a bit, as can be seen in the side profile picture, but the adjustable top "lid" wraps around it perfectly. The fit is literally perfect. https://imgur.com/a/19ej57L
Thank you for sharing your photos!
Looks like the interior of the Maxpedition is same as exterior (rough, not smooth), so may cause some wear over time, inserting and removing device.
The 700 fits perfect in both of the cases below. The zippered one is lighter weight material. I use it for storage and transport to the vehicle. The one with the velcro flap I use for hiking attached to my backpack.

The first one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015KP7RH8) seems to be only 20mm thick, whereas Montana 700 is 32mm, that's a close call. Did you try it?
Could any one share their observations (with hindsight) on what you bought? How does the Maxpedition TC-3 work? The internal material doesn't seem to be very soft.
It fitted, albeit a bit snug. The advertised "soft" lining however is not soft enough and over time would mark the device I think so I sent it back. It was the third case I tried, have another 3 on the way to look at.
Cheers mate. Keep me posted please. About to check two cases next week so I will let you know as well.
Will do. Thanks, let us know how you get on.
The two new pouches arrived and either will do the job, for me anyway. Both have a smooth inside and are roomy so don’t see any issues with marking the device when taking in and out.

The dimensions of this one are slightly smaller than the second. No double zip or d ring as advertised and the quality of the material doesn’t feel as good as the second.

As I mentioned already the second pouch is slight bigger but definitely has a better feel of quality to it. It also has a double zip and two d rings at the top.
In the picture below, the first pouch is on the left, and the second slightly bigger pouch is on the right.
Nice. Mine has arrived as well and while it's by no means perfect I'm probably going to keep it.

It's not not a very big pouch, definitely smaller than the two you've tested. For my use (hiking), however, it's small enough to be conveniently attached to a belt. Interestingly, although its soft lining takes a very good care of the device the problem is, it also generates some resistance when putting the device in. This is because of Montana 700's rubbery case which protects the unit really well but also generates some friction. Because of that at first I couldn't put the device in, but after I stretched the pouch a bit it's not a big problem anymore. On a good note, because of that soft lining, the pouch holds the unit really well. Bear in mind though, my unit is 700, rather than 700i or 750i, so the pouch doesn't have to accommodate the additional SOS button.
As I said, the 700 fits in pretty well; was the unit just a bit larger, I would not be able to close the pouch.
Note that the 700 is not fully covered by the pouch (small portion at the top still exposed on sides). But again, it's not a problem for me. As a matter of fact just by rolling the cover a bit I can expose the antenna while keeping the rest of unit protected.
EDIT: the pouch comes with a D ring.
Glad that worked out for you. I am pretty sure I looked at the same pouch and thought it was too small going off the dimensions.
