Error applying firmware update to Mini (original)

Hi - I've just dug out my old InReach Mini (original from 2021) to use on a trip - the service was suspended (still is). Connecting to Garmin Express, it downloaded an update, tried to apply it and now the InReach Mini won't charge or respond with anything other then the USB icon. I've factory reset and forced the update to be applied (Down+Back+Power, then SOS). it switches off after about 3 seconds of trying to apply the update.. then back to square one.

Any ideas or is this just too old to hold out any hope ?

I may be wrong but I don’t believe the original mini works with Garmin Explore App. You need to use the Earthmate App. Hopefully it isn’t screwed up now.

thanks - I did eventually fix it by using the FWFlasher solution - it's now updating successfully with Garmin Explore (it does actually work :-) ) - thanks !

Express should work with any device it recognizes. The same cannot be said of the mess of Garmin mobile apps.

If you run into problems like this in the future, you can always mount the device as a USB "drive". Then delete the update.gcd file to kill the update attempt.
