Activities Full

My Mini 2 gave a message saying delete some activities to be able to store more of them. I didn't realize that they had to be manually deleted from the device itself, and thought deleting them from Explore Web or App deleted them from the device as well. Question is, is the maximum calculated from total storage space or number of items or both? And is there a way to view this so I know how close I am getting to the limit? Thanks!

  • Data limitations for the inReach Mini 2 can be found here: User Data File Limitations of the inReach Mini 2. Deleting data from the Explore app and syncing should remove them from the device and the Explore website as well. Instructions are here: Deleting Data and Messages in the Garmin Explore App

  • Thanks for your reply. To clarify I work mostly with Explore Web for the big screen. I rarely create or delete using the App. I verify that Web matches the App after syncing every change I make in order to keep sync times short.

Deleting from Web appears to be maintaining the "courses" in the Mini2 which includes routes, waypoints, and tracks on Web, in the manner that the article you linked says. How ever the "activities" in the Mini2 were definitely not being deleted by that method of using Web. The M2 appeared to have every activity ever created since I started using it. I will test to verify this.

    Update:

Went on 1.5 mile hike to test. Verified activity showed up on Explore Web, Explore App and Mini 2. Deleted activity on Web then synced and verified activity was gone on Explore App and still present on Mini 2. Deleting from Web does not delete from Mini 2, on my setup anyway.

Can anyone else confirm this is the way it supposed to work please and thanks.

  • The new software 4.32 has a change log of "Fixed erroneous files filling up filesystem". This might help your problem.

  • Thanks for your reply. In the process of working with a Garmin rep we discovered that with my setup of Mini2, Explore App Android and Explore Web that deleting activities in Web does not delete them from the M2. They have to be deleted manually from the M2. I do know that deleting them from Web makes them also disappear from the activities tab in the App, and using the App to delete them does not remove them from the M2.
