Server error at inreach activation

My first experience with the Garmin family involved encountering a 'Server Error: An error occurred while processing your request' message on both the Messenger app and the Explore website, even though I used different browsers during the activation of an InReach Mini 2. I have spent the past three hours trying to activate the device, but it seems not to be working. Is this the standard routine at Garmin? I really hope they do not use the same servers for organizing Search and Rescue operations...
