Hello everyone, I purchased the Garmin inReach Mini 2, and I would like to understand if live tracking and tracking points are free when connected to Wi-Fi or mobile network (similar to how message sending works).
Thank you.
Hello everyone, I purchased the Garmin inReach Mini 2, and I would like to understand if live tracking and tracking points are free when connected to Wi-Fi or mobile network (similar to how message sending works).
Thank you.
Tracking (periodically and automatically sending location updates) is always done via the satellite (Iridium) network so that will count against your inReach plan. Only messaging when done via the Garmin Messenger mobile app can make use of cellular or Wi-Fi, in which case it will be free. It makes kind of sense because the inReach Mini 2 itself cannot connect to Wi-Fi or cellular.
Hello Ludovico84 Tracking is not affected by the wifi/ceulluar connection. The mini 2 has two tracking options. 1. Send interval which gets sent via satellite (on the Saftey plan there is a cost) and 2. Activities, this is your internal log. I thank you for the answer. I imagined the tracking points had a cost and were not free unless connected to the wifi or cellular network but I preferred to ask anyway.
