Getting from Point A to Point B using waypoints

I just purchased a Garmin inReach Mini 2.  I want to use the device's compass capability to plot a path for a ski trail through untracked mountainous terrain through beetle- killed pine windblown downed trees. I know the GPS coordinates (Google Earth Pro) for Point A and Point B.  Both are already ski destinations, but they are about a mile-and-half apart and are not connected (too many downed trees). Cutting a  even a narrow path will take a bit of effort so I don't want to get to far astray (I'm an old guy with a bad back). I know how to use the chainsaw, but the Mini 2 frustrates me.  How can I set up waypoints to get from point A to Point B so I can just follow the compass arrow and cut as I go?

Thanks

Richard
