Can't receives number of messages used on the inReach Mini 2 unit

Hello! I just bought my Mini 2 and have been playing around with it. I have sent/received 5 messages so far and it shows that on my Garmin account online. When I try to update this on the unit itself through the "data use" screen where I "update details," it does the whole "waiting for response" thing and then beeps. But all of my data stays at the "--" reading. Also, when I try to check my usage on the linked phone app, the update was from 10 hours ago and there is no button to force a sync I can see. Currently, I have no way to know how many messages I am using without logging into my Garmin account. Any ideas?

Which plan do you have?

Seems to be the case that this functionality unfortunately doesn't seem to work. To have an overview about sent messages/(possibly) trackpoints, especially if you have the safety plan seems to be important.

And what is missing is received messages (received messages also counts against your message limit). Or have I overlooked it?

For a user friendly display there should be shown (for example):

messages according to plan: 10

sent messages: 3

received messages: 2

available according to plan: 5

Ok or short version:

sent messages: 3

received messages: 2

But it should work anyway!

Never had worked AFAIK. The only thing that is actually definitive is the data at explore.garmin.com. And your monthly bill, of course :-D

Open a support ticket. They won't have a fix. But the more people who report the issue, the more likely it is to be addressed.

I was even not aware, that this functinality theoretically exist (seems sometimes really to be use-/helpful to read the manual) , but unfortunately it is not working/has never worked (?).

Thanks for these thoughts. I agree, it should work! Here is what Garmin wrote to me when I wrote support: I am trying this now and will report back.

Remove the device from your Explore app -
1. On the Explore app go to the devices tab
2. Select the Mini 2
3. Select the 3 dots in the top right
4. Select remove device
Reset the Mini 2 - Full Reset of the inReach Mini 2
Power on the Mini 2 and pair it with the Explore app again - Pairing an inReach Mini 2 With the Garmin Explore App
Sync through the account and devices tab - Syncing the Garmin Explore App

To confirm, its not working for you either? Just the "--" for all the fields?

Thanks for your reply. Seems strange to have it in the menu but not offer it. Also, my explore app isn't syncing recent data either. I replied to another comment with what Garmin said to do, but I doubt a simple reset will work. Well see.

I just tried this and it didn't fix anything. Even in the messaging app my last update is from Sunday.
