Has anyone paired with an inReach mini?

I'm planning on getting a Garmin inReach mini2 for my off-grid pursuits. I also want a smaller, less attractive, more rugged smartphone for all the reasons you are familiar with.

I think the Atom and inReach mini are a match made in heaven for the ability to communicate anywhere in the world, while minimizing distractions. (And my Galaxy Note8 is bigger than them both together.) Has anybody tried this and could report back on the experience?

If you just wanted a small device for occasional trips, you might also look for an iPhone SE Gen 1, with iOS 15. Its 113g. They are tiny, light, up to 128GB storage, 12MP camera, 4K video, etc. They were…

I think you ARE going to need somebody who has tried it. It's Android, it has BT. But Android being Android, somebody does need to see if the Explore app runs and is usable on the device.

If you just wanted a small device for occasional trips, you might also look for an iPhone SE Gen 1, with iOS 15. Its 113g. They are tiny, light, up to 128GB storage, 12MP camera, 4K video, etc. They were certified up to iOS 15, so they could still run iOS Explore. I used to have one somewhere, and I have the Mini 2. I may have to find it and try it out.

Pretty sure this will work. I have an iOS 15 iPhone which does run Explore. Unlike Android, iOS is reliably the same across different devices on which it runs.

Yes, in fact, I just updated my iPhone SE Gen 1 to iOS 15.7, and installed Explore, paired, and synced everything over. Looks like its working just fine.

agree, some older android I have around are not able to run the explore app

I use them for running earthmate for older inreach devices instead
