Inreach Mini2 "Acquiring GPS"

For some reason when i hike my Garmin Explore app comes up with a message saying "inReach Mini 2 Acquiring GPS". It often does this for 10-20 minutes meaning large portions of my hike are not being tracked, or so it seems. Weirdly, the inReach does seem to be sending tracking links.

Any idea what is causing this? I have tried moving the inReach mini around. I usually clip it onto the outer part of my rucksack. I also move it to the front and sometimes even just hold it. clear skies and cloudy skies it seems to keep happening.

Id love to know if it is a fault with the device or maybe just something i am doing wrong?

It seems to be normal behaviour to me, although I haven't seen that particular message myself (probably because I haven't used the Explore app whilst hiking). In short: when using the standard activity recording setting (i.e. not high detail), the GPS receiver will only be switched on (or so it seems) when the tracking interval timer expires and it's time to send another tracking point update. The receiver will remain on until the point update has been sent successfully.

Could that explain what you're seeing? What's your configured tracking interval? Also: when you go to the Navigation widget and select the Location page, how long does it take for a position to appear, usually?

Since the app disagrees with the device itself, it might be a problem with the Explore app. Not the most stable or useful piece of Garmin software. First thing to try would be to have the device forget the phone and vice-versa. Repeat the BT pairing process. If that does not help, forget again, remove the Explore app from the phone, reinstall, and re-pair.

Many thanks! Ill try unpairing and reinstalling the app. Ive got another hike today so will be able to test it.
