GPS only by default, I activated multi-GNSS

I have activated the multi-GNSS reception in my M2, since by default, curiously, at least my unit, was configured to receive only the GPS constellation.

Now with GPS+GALILEO (the Japanese system is also activated, but it is far from Spain and I don't think anything will influence me) I suppose it will work better.

Supposedly, it consumes more battery. I got my Mini 2 only a few days ago, so I can't compare, but yesterday I did a long mountain route of about 8 hours, using it a lot, detailed tracking, sending many predetermined messages, and it has only consumed 15%.

Its battery is small and with a small powerbank it can be charged quickly and without spending much energy. I don't see a problem with the battery, so I have activated:
- Detailed tracking
- Brightness 100%
- Multi-GNSS
- Light time 30 seconds (I have even tried to have it on permanently and it spends very little)

Very happy with the device :)

This is very much in line with my observation. It seems that power consumption with multi-GNSS, detailed activity recording. 10 minute send interval, and some messaging is, give or take, 2%/hour in real world examples with some tree cover.

I have a question related to this: does the multi-GNSS only make navigation more precise, or does it also makes is easier to send messages when the view of the sky is less clear? I.e. are the other satellites also used for sending messages/locations?

This applies only to the GPS fix. It has nothing to do with sending anything via the Iridium network.

The GPS (or Glonass or whatever) satellites are only for navigation. The Iridium satellites are for communication.

Regarding brightness set to 100%. Why? Are you using the device in low-light conditions?

I've found that setting it to 0 (zero) is perfectly fine in all daytime environments.
