I am thinking of using a Mini 2 paired to my instinct solar watch. Does the remote operation reduce battery life significantly?
Other question is are the messages forwarded to the watch? Specifically interested in the weather report.

I don't recall exactly what appears in the way of received messages. I would doubt that the weather would be displayed on the watch, but I am just guessing.

Messages are forwarded to the watch. Weather reports are not.

As far as battery goes, it's hard to judge. The remote function requires the ANT+ radio. The watch does show tracking information, so it is updated fairly frequently. I have not done systematic testing with the M2. My experience with the M1 is that the watch loses the connection frequently - at least when the M1 is carried in a cyclist's fanny pack. This causes the watch to "search" frequently. No idea what's going on with Mini itself.
