Power off when external USB power is turned off

Hi,

Just upgraded from a Mini to a Mini 2.

The "original" Mini had a setting to turn off the device when USB power is turned off. This is very helpful for example in an aircraft cockpit where you want the device to turn on at the beginning of the flight and automatically turn off once the aircraft power is turned off.

Cannot find that setting on the Mini 2. Am I missing something or is this feature missing in the current firmware version?

There is no explicit setting for this.

This post describes odd behavior which depends on the USB/Garmin interface mode setting. IMO, this is almost certainly a bug. But it may meet your immediate requirement.

Thanks. Made formal request to Garmin via the link you provided. Let's hope that they make the change soon,

The "bug" you mentioned is not working for me. I tried it and it does not change anything.

Bringing this topic back to Garmin's attention. I hope that Garmin can fix this issue soon as it impacts the usability/safety of the Mini 2 vs. the original one.

I have now experienced the Mini 2 being completely drained before my next flight when I forget to manually shut it down after a flight which leaves me w/o a functioning device until charged again.

It should not be too difficult to bring the firmware function back.
