One of the use cases is for scuba diving. I open the dive case and then send the preset messages at the surface. It could also be the SOS feature. While waiting for the message(s) to transmit, I put the device back in the dive case and keep the whole thing out of the water. The antenna is pointing at the sky. Does the dive case decrease the SatCom operations? I appreciate any help you can provide.

Found these Tips for Using the inReach Mini Dive Case. The following tip is goofy: "Avoid opening the case immediately after exiting the water. Ensure that the case is dry before opening it." That statement makes me wonder if the product manager for the dive case has done any scuba diving.
BTW, Garmin support confirms that "You should have no issues sending the message when the device is back in the case, as long as it has a clear view of the sky and is not underwater."
