Speed indicator missing?

Any change to the device will upset SOMEBODY. There is always an installed base. As noted, some users (and, apparently, Garmin) thought that the relative bearing was a better use of the space on the screen. The M2 has a 3-axis electronic compass. It us not necessary to move at a minimum speed to get an accurate heading. It's a hiking device. In general, current speed is not very interesting (to me - YMMV).

Garmin manuals, even the online versions, are notoriously inaccurate, especially in the presence of firmware changes. The firmware is reality; the manual is one-off fiction.

I have a pressing need to see my current speed. Where can I find that if not on the compass screen.

Thank you for being concerned on whether or not I can see the screen when an indication of speed is relevant. Please be assured that I can safely read the screen and that I need to see my current speed. It's actually critical that I can get an accurate reading of my current speed at all times. Please tell me where I can find that if not on the compass screen.

Oh well, that will save me from considering the mini2 current speed and Max speed on a track are key for me.

Yep let's keep removing features and update the manual instead. I have been a crusted on garmin user until now, seem like I need to consider my options.

Me too. I sometimes use my mini 2 for track recording when cycling, and the lack of speed display is a bit disappointing.

It would be nice to be able to display speed instead of direction via an option setting, or even as a widget on the main screen.

I'm not asking to create a new feature that never existed, I'm just asking you to bring back a data field that already existed on mini 1.

I can't understand why this request got sarcastic comments from someone. After all, the mini 2 wasn't developed solely for hiking on two feet. Some people use the mini 2 on jet skis, fishing boats, cars, and even scuba diving. Garmin even offers a marine bundle, car mount, and dive case as official accessories for these uses.
