When my wife is driving to pick me up at the trailhead and is out side of cell phone, I would like to be able to have her set the Garmin unit on the dashboard of the car so she can be notified of any messages I might send to her while she is traveling to pick me up. This area gets pretty hot. I do not want to damage the unit. any ideas or suggestions?
How hot does it get. If you can’t hold it in your hand I’d say it’s too hot, do you have a/c on? That may not help a whole bunch on a hot dash anyway. Heres a suggestion if it’s too hot on the dash all the time, then why don’t you just plan to communicate once an hour or 45 minutes, she’ll only have to hopefully put it on the dash for maybe 15-20 minutes hopefully, maybe even less. Unless you want to lay it on a cooler pack, I don’t think there’s a lot of options. Maximum temperature 60*C/140*F You could rig up a small 12volt fan to blow air on it too. Good luck. With the mini2 you could use a suction cup mount on the window, I don’t know what’s available like that for the messenger, or how well it would work temperature wise.
