Best practice if backup person has not been contacted in agreed timeframe

I am just formalising a process with my backup people for what to do if I don't check in within the agreed timeframe using my InReach Messenger.

Which would Garmin recommend?

a) The backup person contacts Garmin directly

b) The backup person contacts the local emergency services directly

If a) how should that be done? i.e. what is the phone number and what information would Garmin require?

  • First, your backup person should try to contact you via message to your iR device. You can enable in the mapshare settings, that they have the permission to locate you. If they are not able to contact you, your backup person should contact the local emergency.
