Location attached when message sent from messenger, but not from app

When I send a check-in message right from the inreach Messenger, the location is included. But when I send a check-on message from the Android Messenger app, no location is included. I checked and I do have location permissions enabled for the app on the phone. Any ideas? Thanks.

Maybe. I have no idea. I could see this happening (maybe) if the app decided to send the message via the Internet. But if it is sent via the device, I don't see why location services on the phone would come into play. Of course, if I actually understood the why behind any of this, I'd be a Garmin project manager :-D

It depends on the type of communication, the recipient and my whereabouts.

Imagine if all text messages sent from your normal mobile phone and every outbound email from your computer had a location link included.

Interested to know if this worked consistently. I'm having the same issue but it's not resolved by giving the phone location permission and waiting outdoors until the phone's location is better resolved by GNSS. My phone is vanilla Android.
