Placement of Garmin messenger on backpack

Hi everyone,

has anyone had any experience with best soultions for placement of the Garmin messenger on the backpack? It has a hole for a small lanyard so you can hang it on top, but looking at the antenna, it seems like a horizontal placement would be the best. Is it best to put it inside the top lid of the backpack? In that case, I presume you would get some signal detoriation under the fabric of the backpack(?)

Any suggestions or experiences you would like to share?

The video link here shows it being carried in a front zipped pocked on a backpack and did not seem to affect messages being sent https://youtu.be/SAy-uYsYaBY?t=178 , I have a large pocket at the top of my own backpack and have used it here with no issues, hope this helps

I have had good luck carrying the device in my hip pocket (jeans) or in my jacket pocket. I doubt that one layer of pack material would be an issue. Note, however, that WET pack material will be worse - maybe bad enough to block reception.

I have not noticed any difference, if I mount my messenger on top off my backpack or on my front backpack strap. Compared to my 66i, the new antenna seems to have a much better reception (I assume it’s the same with mini/2).

I bought this case from Amazon to secure it to my backpack strap. It fits it perfectly and securely, and shouldn't block the antenna. I may also put a lanyard on the Messenger to have another point of contact to my backpack, just in case it fell out, which seems unlikely. www.amazon.com/.../B0BN7FL1TX

Not sure I agree about the M2. But certainly, the Messenger has a much superior antenna. Does not seem to matter where I carry it - it just works.
