Share your mounting solutions/ideas (Supplement: after 3 years Garmin really managed finally to release a mount!)

Due to the current absence of a mount system (except the lanyard hole), I am interested, which mounting solution/ideas you have found for yourself. I really hope that Garmin will offer something like Zoloe does soon.

The messenger is: 7,8 x 6,4 x 2,3 cm. Because I don’t already have my device, I used somthing with s similar size (hydrometer): 7,7 x 6.5 x 2,2 cm. This is an old MFH Molle Handyhalter, (tactical), which was laying around in my drawer. It fits perfect. You can put it on a belt or on a backpack strap (horizontal or vertical) and one pic I have added an additional carabiner. You will have easy access to the messenger  and I think because of the open structure of the pouch, the reception will not be disturbed. The price for the pouch was about max. 10€ (years ago).

After my messenger arrives, I will exchange the photosWink

  • BTW: there is also already 3 party stuff (more attachment components- possibilities /more expensive):

This one looks like, that you can put it on a standard bike mount (etc) for an gpsmap/mini 2.

Unfortunately I haven’t found a pic from the backside of the Garmin M/M+ mount so far. I hope the backside it developed similar to the one on the 3 party mount pic above. Will report after I have received it.

  • I'd be keen on one of these once they are released in Australia. Thanks for the heads up.

  • My Garmin Messenger/Messenger+ mount for €17.99 (including shipping) has arrived. It only came with a carabiner; there is a webbing loop mentioned on the homepage; I must have misunderstood that, that is just the loop to attach the carabiner .Since you clip the M/M+ into the mount, I'm not sure if the thin plastic used will hold up to heavy, continuous use when clipping the M/M+ in and out. Garmin also cut corners on the back of the mount: the mount doesn't fit my existing Garmin bike mount  Sob(on which I can slide the Mini 2/Gpsmap and Oregon and the competition's mount too!). Supplement: this might be a new mount system, see my following post, but the accessories for it might not be released/available yet. I still have to test how the Messenger sits in the mount under rough conditions before I can comment. Since I 'll also secure the M/M+ to the carabiner with a lanyard, it's at least covered against it falling out unnoticed. To be honest, I'm not thrilled with what Garmin has delivered. The Tusita mount seems to me to be really the better alternative for twice the price but with a variety of mounting options! If you just want a carabiner mount, the cheaper Garmin mount will do the job.

  • Perhaps that is for a new mount system?

    Backside of the M/M+ mount:

The current mount system looks like this  (Gpsmap 66/67, Mini 2):

The counterparts to clip the Gpsmap/Mini 2 on looks like this

so that is not released for the new (?) mount system yet (if there is one, but I assume, there is one). It took Garmin > 3 years to release the M/M+ mount, perhaps we only have only to wait some more years for the counterpartsRoflMetalFlag blackSkull crossbonesInnocentStuck out tongue winking eye So who has already the bike mount shown above, should go for the Tusita M/M+ mount (btw: no bike mount etc. released for the new Garmin M/M+ mount yet).
