How to change email linked to account

Ok here's a confusing one.

My Garmin inreach+ account is linked to an old work email I can no longer access. I do not have the password for this email address to log into the Garmin site so cannot log in to the Garmin account linked to this email. How do I change the device to below to a different email username.

Updates to personal information, such as your email address, home address, or phone number, can be made by signing in to your account at explore.garmin.com.

If you have no access to your account, I would contact Garmin support via phone or email.

in January, I attempted to change the email address of some 5 users. It took some 10 days to the support to accomplish this...., finally they succeeded

It looks like one can change anything, but not email. At some point I was told by support to use rather some kind of dummy email address so I do not have to bother when real mail has changed.
