POI Icon Removal

Hello northland5 The GPSMap H1i Plus has the TOPOActive mapping is loaded with thousands of points of interest, including shops, restaurants and bars, car parks, schools and universities, and accommodations. TopoActive Maps on GPSMAP Handhelds So currently since this is built into the mapping, there is not the option to disable these as a layer, without disabling the map itself. 

Thank you. The question was to find a way to hide the icons. I think having the option to reduce/tune/remove the icons that are visual clutter, especially on a small-screen device, would be a near-mandatory feature. I appreciate your answer about where they came from, but locating the menu for making some adjustments is the objective. Your solution is a pretty big hammer. Thanks again.

Hay Garmin - This should be a feature request - add options to enable/disable POI symbols on Map Layer Menu. (Just like waypoints, messages and geocaches, etc. - can edit zoom level they appear....)

This used to be the case for older GPS units. It was called "Declutter". There were also options at which zoom level map points (you could chose from POI's & waypoints among other map points)  would be shown on the map. The whole thing was highly configurable...but it was gotten rid of. If you've been around these GPS units for decades like I have (and others here as well), you see things come and go as units "progress", many times to the detriment of usability and user configurability.

In the map settings menu of older devices, e.g. GPSMAP64s, two possibilities have been provided as to set displaying details:

1. Zoom Levels: Adjusts the zoom level at which map items will appear. The map items will not appear when the map zoom level is higher than the selected level.

2.Detail: Selects the amount of detail shown on the map. Showing more detail may cause the map to redraw more slowly.

I'm not able to understand what omission of these features has been good for ...

Such “improvement” used to be a default menu option which obviously has been omitted leading to a deteriorated map display now. It seems a bit odd to suggest a reintroduction of such tried-and-true features as “improvement.” But, whatever, I did it.

I keep rejecting their answer, which suggests that the solution is to remove the entire Topo Active layer. That is not a solution.

I used the idea submission platform -> I have a Garmin h1i and need to have the option to remove POI from the map via menu option. Users of these premium devices should have the option to add/remove/reduce clutter from the map. NO need to show me food trucks, banks, forks/knives by default in full on a global navigation/communications device designed for hardcore users.
