searching near jumps back to current location

H1i Plus, V. 7.07

browsing around on the map and pressing find shows a field "searching near" with coordinates. But after some of the below steps, sooner or later,  instead of coordinates this field shows "current location". This is unwanted, it is a bug.

1. Browse on the map screen, press find, the search near, shows coordinates (as expected)

2. as no. 1, but do any of the following

  • quit and browse further and press find again
  • as above plus touch the screen, move the curser, press find
  • as step before,  and ex out the info field on top of the map, press find
  • ......, press find and search for saved waypoints or points of interest, from the search result go back with quit,
  • as above, select an item from the search result, go back (press quit 2x) to the page with search nearby field.

After all these steps the search nearby field should show the coordinates of the map position and after a further press of quit you should see the map with the position where you started searches. But often you don't see no coordinates but "current position". When you then press quit the map shows your current position.

I tested all the steps to find a solution to overcome this jumping back to current location. It is probably not necessary to try all the steps to find the bug.

  • Please try using the find near by following the steps below:

    1. From the home page, select Saved.
    2. Select a waypoint.
    3. Press MENU to open the options menu.
    4. Select Find Near Here.
    5. Select a category.

The list displays locations near the selected waypoint.

  • Your proposal is a workarbout to overcome, what  IMO is a bug, As per your proposal is a workabout you always have to place a waypoint, pan further, new waypoint, and so on. And after then you have to deleted the useless waypoints.

What I wish to do is panning around and find nearby POI, eg. for planning the next holiday. There are better ways to do that, eg. using Explore IOS. But panning around on a nice H1 map, especially when it is new, is fun and helps to get used to it.

Again, using the map, panning around, press find, search for POI, panning further, exploring the area. Each time when  you press find, in the "searching near" field, you see coordinates of the place where the cursor is on the map, But at some point you no more get the option for searching nearby coordinates. Then you can only search at "current location" and the map is centered to your actual place. This is the bug.
