Are you copying to the SD card with the card directly connected to the computer (i.e. via card reader), or copying with the card inserted in the H1?
If with card directly connected to the computer it sounds more like an issue with your computer or maybe a defective SD card (that can happen).
If via the H1, try copying with the SD card connected directly to the computer. This is also much much faster because the USB data connection tot the H1 is very, very slow.
I was just updating a couple of maps on the SD card in my H1, and I'm also seeing the behaviour you describe. The Windows MTP copy dialog (with progress bar) appears for a couple of seconds/minute, but then closes itself and no file is copied.
So looks like a new bug with 6.04. Best report it to Garmin support.
update, ive tried uploading copies from the montana 710 that work in it, to the H1 but still no dice.
strange thing is the files WILL copy to the internal storage of the H1 but NOT to the sd card.
Have you tried (as suggested earlier) copying the map file(s) directly to the SD card by means of an SD card reader connected to the PC/Mac thus bypassing the H1 & it's (apparently buggy) SD card interface entirely? As long as you can get the map files to the SD card in some way for now, at least until this apparent bug is hopefully resolved.
Yes, actually did that over the last few hours and everything worked fine. Ill stick to direct card xfers for now. Thanks for that!
