Dear Garmin,
I just got my brand new H1+ that costs a small fortune only to be greeted with a message saying I can't do anything with BaseCamp?!
I have the latest version available 4.7.5? Is an upgrade coming or what?

In my experience it will work, Basecamp reads maps from the H1i Plus and can also send data to the H1i Plus. But officially it's not compatible. It's the same as with the GPSMAP 67/67i.
Well...
The map synchronization has just finished, that part works, although I don't need it because I use some other maps that for me works much better than Garmin's...
As for the other items, it's not a problem for me to transfer all of them manually, but this is all ridiculous if you ask me...
Basecamp hasn't been in active development for some time now so in that sense I do not think it's strange that Basecamp shows a warning when a connected device isn't recognised. So not sure what's ridiculous about that to be honest.
Well I have quite different opinion, for me it is ridiculous that only official windows soft not supporting latest devices?
Sadly, I think Garmin assumes (or hopes) that you'll be using Garmin Explore (using their mobile device app or via the Explore website) in place of Basecamp, That sure seems to be the trend.
I most definitely prefer Basecamp over Explore.
Incomparable better and faster solution, I hope Garmin will add proper support for newer devices...
