GPSMAP H1 Accuracy

Hi,

I got my H1 and been using it for a while. Overall good impressions however the accuracy barely drop below 4 meters. I tried dual band gnss enabled as well as auto mode in a nice sunny day far from buildings. My good old GPSMAP 66SR drops till 1,8-1,5 meters at the same spot.

Whats is wrong with H1?

Regards

  • I'm seeing exactly the same. The satellite page shows an accuracy somewhere between 2.4 and 3 meters, never below that

Also the satellite page shows less solid bars than my GPSMAP 67 in exactly the same spot and conditions.

mentioned in another topic that there will be software update to address the accuracy issue, but so far no update has been released yet...

  • Hi, I’m experiencing the same issue! The new model was supposed to offer better accuracy than the previous GPSMAP 67, but the performance seems noticeably worse. I suspect this accuracy drop may be related to the device no longer supporting GLONASS satellites — which feels like a step backward. We’re actively looking for a solution to this problem and hope Garmin addresses it soon.

  • Garmin inReach devices have never supported GLONASS. This has been the case for the 66i, 67i, and also applies to the H1i Plus.

Also, what accuracy do your recorded activities show? I get the impression it's an issue with displayed accuracy only, not with actually recorded activities. But it would be nice if Garmin could clarify, especially since Garmin-Chris has said that an upcoming update will fix issues with accuracy.
