H1i Plus sending photos?

With an iR subscription you can sent pics via the mess app (wifi or satellite). The H1i+ has a built-in camera. Is the device able to send pics standalone

via satellite or to transfer the taken pics to the mess app and you can send them this way? Haven´t found about this in the manual,

so I asume both does not work. Correct? If so, isn´t that a missed opportunity?

With an active inReach subscription, you can send photos saved on the GPSMAP H1i Plus or use the handheld's rear-facing or front-facing camera to take a photo to include in your message. More information…

The manual seems to suggest that you can add a photo from the device when sending a new message, see Sending a New Message where it says "To send a saved photo with your message, select Plus symbol > Photos, and select a photo."

Not sure though whether you can transfer photos taken on the H1i Plus can be transferred to the Messenger app on your phone.

This video by Garmin Training also provides some info on how messaging with photos works in combination with the Garmin Messenger app.

It also gives an impression of the new UI on the H1, and to be honest it looks way more intuitive than how the current interface works.
