Lap markers in Garmin Connect

I now use a GPSMAP 67i instead of an old Edge device to record hiking activities. When I switched from the Edge to the GPSMAP, I carried both devices a few times to compare accuracy etc. It seems that I can't get the lap markers to show for any activity recorded on the GPSMAP but the lap markers show fine for activities recorded on the Edge.

This contrast is true for the activities when I carried both devices, and for all other activities recorded on the GPSMAP since.

This behaviour applies on the desktop and app versions of Garmin Connect.

Has anyone seen this? Any clues as to how to get the markers to show for GPSMAP activities?

Did you turn on the Auto Lap setting on the GPSMAP 67i? See Main Menu > Setup > Fitness > Auto Lap? I think by default it is turned off while on Edge devices it is turned on.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes AutoLap is turned on so that I’m recording a hike in 1 mile laps, and I have data for each mile, just as on the Edge. It’s just that the mile markers don’t show on the map for the activity from the GPSMAP.

It can also be that Connect only displays the lap markers on the map on certain activity types and not on hikes. Do the markers show if you change the type of the activity in Connect to for example cycling?

So it does seem to be specific to the device, and activity type doesn’t seem to account for the behaviour. The lap markers show for an activity recorded on the Edge, whether the activity type is hiking or mountain biking. The lap markers don’t show for an activity recorded on the GPSMAP, whether the activity is hiking or mountain biking.

Interesting. You could check what Garmin support has to say on this, could be a bug but could also be by design…
