67i has gone dead won't turn on or charge

Bought it last month. Everything seemed fine. Plenty of charge. Pretty sure I shut it down. A few days later push button to start and nothing. Held the start switch down for 30 seconds, nothing. Connected to charge cable overnight, nothing. Connected to computer but computer doesn't see it. Now it's the weekend and Garmin is closed. Help!

  • Try keeping it connected to a charger for a 15 minutes or so. If the battery is fully depleted it takes some time for the device to start again.

  • We're sorry to hear your GPSMAP 67i will not power on. Please try the following troubleshooting:

Update: First try to ensure your device has the latest software updates installed. For steps, see - Installing Software Updates to Outdoor/Marine Handhelds. As your device is not recognized by the computer, see - Outdoor or Marine Handheld Not Recognized by Computer or Garmin Applications.

Battery: While unlikely if the device doesn't power on when plugged in, it's possible the issue is related to both the battery and external power (USB) situation. Try to alternate the external power source you're plugging into, and any cable/adapter you're using. Also, it's best to leave the device plugged in for at least a few hours (overnight would be better) to give it enough time to recharge.

Soft Reset: Press and hold the power button for up to 60 seconds, or until the device hopefully powers on. The device may need to be plugged into a power source (with USB cable into AC adapter or computer) during the soft reset if it still will not power on normally.

Full Reset: How to Reset the GPSMAP Handheld Devices - Again, the device may need to be plugged into a power source during this reset.

If none of the above helps, it appears the best option is to replace your device.
