GPSMAP 67 - Cannot delete downloaded Outdoor Maps+

In preparation of a holiday i downloaded an Outdoor maps+ area for my target destination on my GPSMAP 67. After the download finished i realized i downloaded them to internal storage instead of the sd card.

I then wanted to delete it and redownload the area to SD card. Unfortunately whenever i try to delete it, my GPSMAP crashes after a few seconds and reboots. After the reboot the map is still available. I tried this now also with previous downloaded other areas of Outdoor Maps+ and i have the same problem there. Basically i am now stuck. I just have space left for a few more areas and cannot delete old ones.

  • You can manually remove the Outdoor Maps+ by connecting the GPSMAP to a computer and deleting the .img files. The naming of the files is not self explanatory, so check the timestamp of the files to match them to the date and time you downloaded the maps. Note that on macOS you need additional software to access the files, you can use OpenMTP.

Note that Map Manager will always download maps to the internal storage first before moving them to the SD card, so even though you have sufficient storage on the SD card you may not be able to download additional maps.

  • Thanks for the reply, unfortunately after every crash (when i tried deleting them via the user interface) it tries to update my maps and now they all have a similar timestamp when accessing them via the file explorer.

Quite annoying to be honest the situation. as there is the function there to delete them, but yeah....
For now i can still use it, maybe it gets fixed until i run out of space :P

  • This list I created with all the Outdoor Maps+ map filenames may be of help, see gist.github.com/.../b1d46bac995edd7f2213dfb14b31f188
