Device not turning on after hard reset

Bought the 67i last week. Been playing around with it for a bit, kinda wonky interface. Seems buggy to me. Did all the updates I could but still buggy.

Kept having to do hard resets to clear out old/incorrect navigation points. First hard reset where I held the power button for 15-30 seconds seemed ok, but then I did another one a few minutes later and now device is totally dead. Won't turn on, won't charge, can't connect to USB.

So far my whole experience with my first Garmin device is pretty sour. Guessing I'll have to get a warranty replacement.. Fingers crossed the next one isn't such a disaster!!

  • The device is indeed not very intuitive to use.

But in order to delete navigation points (I assume you mean waypoints) you do not need to do a hard reset. Just go to the Waypoint Manager and delete the waypoints.

Regarding your issue, did you try holding the power button for around 30 seconds? Or you could try holding Page + Enter buttons and then pressing the power button.

  • Yea.. I don't know if user error or what. But I kept selecting a course, it would calculate for a minute, then I'd hit "Go" and it would bring me to the previous course I had set. Hard reset seemed to fix it for a bit, until I selected a different course and then tried to go back to the original one.. Then it kept setting active route to the old one. I think I'll have to just only have 1 route/course loaded in this device at a time, otherwise it seems to get confused.

Going to RMA and try for a new one. Hopefully the bugginess goes away with new device, but I have serious doubts!

  • Ah yes, the incorrect course being loaded is actually a software bug. The unit will load a different course than the one you selected. A work around is to start navigation of the course via the Explore app, then the course will be sent to the GPSMAP and the device will start the correct course.

Best to report this issue to Garmin support, there should already be a case because I've reported it in the past as well.
