Unable to download satellite imagery

I have a new GPSMAP 67i and am trying to download the Outdoor Maps+ satellite imagery (free without subscription) which according to all the documentation I should be able to do.

I have a WiFi connection, which is connected and working fine. However every time I try to download them on the device it says in the background "Requesting Map Update Data" and in front of that an error says "Cannot connect to Outdoor Maps+ servers."

I've tried while outside as well with satellite connection as well as WiFi in case it had something to do with that, as some of the documentation says you need to have at least had a satellite connection for the first time to do it. Doesn't make a difference.

Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it?

  • Ok, so after messing around for 2 days trying to get this working I've figured it out..

For anyone else experiencing this, the issue was that on my router/modem I have DNS servers automatically set by my ISP (Telstra NBN). I changed that to manually set Google DNS servers it works and able to connect and download imagery.

So the issue is that Telstra clearly is not able to resolve Outdoor Maps+ domain...
