When navigating to a waypoint my device (GPSMAP 67i) always starts to calculate the route via roads/trails. I don’t want this. I always want what Garmin refers to as Direct Routing.
When the device has calculated the route, it is possible to change the Route Activity and choose Direct Routing. But there is no way to do that before the original route calculation has completed.
Currently I am in the planning phase for an expedition. When I use the device for real, I will be in a complete wilderness environment. No roads or trails.
I am afraid that the device when out in the wilderness will try to find trails etc. during route calculation. Taking up time, but more importantly draining battery with unnecessary work.
Can I configure the device to default to Direct Routing?
