New 67i, some things not working

Just set up a new 67i and signed up for the Freedom Recreation Plan.

1) Waypoints I set in the device never show up on the mapshare map. I have it set to do that, I believe.

2) If I send an email to my new inreach address, ie [email protected] it just disapears. Doesn't show up on the device, doesn't show up in the mobile app, nothin'

As for the email address, it’s not an address that can be emailed to and the message shows up on your device. It’s only used for inReach to inReach communication. See https://support.garmin…

Back in the day, waypoints marked in the field (as well as some navigation events) were uploaded by satellite. That has not been the case in a very long time.

Using the Explore mobile app gets the data…

Once I also downloaded the Garmin Explore app and paired it, then the waypoints in mapshare worked. So I guess that means they only show if you have a smartphone with you that can connect. I was planning to leave the phone behind on my backpacking trips. The problem with inreach address remains and I still need help with that.

Using the Explore mobile app gets the data there courtesy of sync via the cell network.

I can still send location messages to mapshare so I suppose that's as good.

Show waypoints created in the field on MapShare - This setting is only for use with the inReach® Mini, inReach Explorer®, inReach Explorer+, inReach SE®, inReach SE+, and inReach original devices to display waypoint created on these devices. This is helpful for letting viewers see locations you have either stopped at, or are going to.
