Map manager sluggish since 7.60 (fixed in firmware 8.80)

Just wondering if others are experiencing the same issue?

Since update 7.60 the Map Manager performs very sluggish. That is, when you navigate through the list of maps the UI reacts slowly and toggling a map on and of is also slow. It performs much slower than in 6.60.

This happens independently from whether I have an SD card with a mix of Garmin purchased and OSM-based maps or whether I only have maps on the internal memory. In both cases I have TopoActive Europe installed on the internal memory.

I’m in contact with Garmin support, but they were not yet able to reproduce the issue. So that’s why I’m curious if it’s just my device or that others are encountering this as well.

I haven’t noticed this on my 67i. Think I read a previous post where it was mentioned, perhaps it was you that mentioned it. I only have two maps on a 4GB card and it’s about 1/2 full. It doesn’t matter if my base map is on or off. Remember sometimes it matters how your device is configured, so Garmin and others may not experience the same issues unless both devices are configured the same. Did you try resetting it? At least then you will have it setup perhaps like Garmin has. Maybe my sd card is too small or I don’t have enough maps on it or it’s a different brand of card with a different speed. Just a possibility.

Agree, it could very well be due to configuration differences. So that's why I'm interested in hearing from others

Do you have Garmin TopoActive maps installed on your device? And what happens if you enable / disable the maps? Be warned, it may trigger this issue so proceed at your own risk!

No I don’t, so yes perhaps it is even map types. Guess we’ll have to wait for others to report. It surprises me that Garmin still has not posted an official release on V6.70 stating what it fixed.

I can confirm the mapping on my 67i is more sluggish and delayed after the update.

This seems to be fixed in firmware update 8.80 I got offered today via Garmin Express.
