I can only talk about my 66i: instead off spare AA batteries I carry a powerbank with me - so not really a problem for me and it also can charge my phone etc.
As said carry a battery pack and charge your phone too. The 67i battery is great, far better than the 66i according to online reviews.I had the same concerns too. If you google it there are a few posts and I think an article on this forum as well. I have used it a lot and have no concerns, I can even receive full satellite signals and send inreach from inside my house. Check out the above link on battery testing.
His battery testing is a “little bit” too theoretical for me: only #5 was a test outside, the others in his home behind a window. And the iR functionality wasn’t used/mentioned during his testing at all (?), that would have shown some other battery consumption. And if you often use the map page outside in real world…. But yes, over all: battery life of 67i is better than battery life of the 66i. But in real world use, it depends on the taken settings of the user…Just my 2 cents.
Many airlines don't allow devices with internal batteries in checked baggage. And many countries don't allow Garmin equipment in hand baggage. I've had many problems taking these devices even in flights from Western countries. Removing the batteries, taking those in my hand baggage and the device in my checked baggage is the way to go, then. Works great.
Furthermore, I'm frequently in places where there are no options for recharging. And I like to travel light. Heavy powerbanks are cumbersome. And AA are to be had anywhere.
The 67 can be no option for me.
I hope the next version will be woth replaceable batteries again.
I don't know if you travel abroad. I have been in countries where my garmin 66 was not allowed in carry on baggage. And with internal battery neither in checked baggage.
