Saving a map waypoint is very slow

I don’t know if this is a bug or not, but when I move the map cursor, press enter, press menu, save as waypoint. Wow it takes about 10 seconds to save a waypoint. I thought this unit had a fast chipset. I don’t recall this from my 64st. Another possible bug, from the Find menu, select waypoints, select a waypoint, press menu, review point, press menu, select edit waypoint, after about 10 seconds, back to the view map page again. Or it displays no option and locks up for about 10 seconds.

  • The first issue you describe I haven't encountered (yet). The second one I can confirm, also happens on my device. Usually it's only the first time opening a Waypoint, the second time it loads faster, but the behaviour is not consistent.

Best to do a bug report with Garmin, the more reports the more likely it will be fixed? At least I hope so...

  • I have discovered that removing my micro sd card with maps on it has resolved the first issue, I have tried this in two separate units. Even though I had all the maps on the card disabled, it caused the long wait. Without the sd card the wait is about 2 seconds vs 10+ seconds with the sd card installed. I will talk to Garmin about this. The second issue is also considerably slower with the sd card installed. But with no sd card installed  the second issue still occurs but this is interesting, if your key sequence is slower, it will not be noticeable, but fast key activation and it’s quite noticeable. Guess I can out pace the cpu on that one lol.

  • Same here. I end up with traverses where some waypoints that I thought I had entered and saved are missing or at some locations I have multiple waypoints because they did not register on the screen so I re-enter them 2 or 3 times more. I have got to the point of discarding my 67 and reverting to my 62. I was hoping for greater accuracy and speed from the 67 but it has turned out to be a poor experience.

Failure to detect satellites are far more frequent with the 67 than the 62 consequently my trails that I show on maps of my inspection routes look bizarre.
